The China Scholarship Council (CSC) is a non-profit institution with legal person status affiliated with the Ministry of Education.

The ChinaAccess4EU project has the following general objectives:

• Increase the awareness and dissemination in the EU of access opportunities for European researchers and research organisations in Chinese national research and innovation programmes;
• Increase S&T cooperation between Europe and China, especially effective collaborations of European researchers and research organisations in Chinese national research and innovation programmes;
• Help develop the reciprocity aspect of EU-China Science & Technology agreements and improve EU’s understanding of the respective research systems in China. 

The Bureau of International Cooperation functions as the international department of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, with its main duty as follows: to formulate strategies, plans, rules and regulations for CAS international cooperation and academic exchanges.

The Information Centre was set up by the non-profit-making Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD) in Bonn, Germany in 2001 and is one of the 50+ information centres in the world. The centre is the only official organization representing all German universities in Hong Kong.

Dongfang International Center for Educational Exchange (Dongfang International), established by the China Scholarship Council (CSC), is devoted to promoting international educational exchange and cooperation.

DRAGON-STAR is funded by FP7, aiming to support the Chinese participation in Horizon 2020.

The Einstein Professorship Program is a key initiative of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Einstein Professorships will be awarded each year to 20 distinguished international scientists actively working at the frontiers of science and technology, for conducting lecture-tours to China.

The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China was founded in 2000 by 51 member companies that shared a goal of establishing a common voice for the various business sectors of the European Union and European businesses operating in China.

Launched in 1998, the Scheme aims to promote research collaboration between Hong Kong and France by providing researchers in the two places with one-year and two-year travel grants.

The Key Technologies R&D Program is the first national S&T program in China. It aims to address major S&T issues in national economic construction and social development.

On June 4, 1997, the State Science and Education Steering Group decided to formulate “The National Plan on Key Basic Research and Development” and organize the implementation of the “National Program on Key Basic Research Project (973 Program)”. The purpose of these two initiatives was to strengthen basic research in line with national strategic targets.

In April 2001, the Chinese State Council approved continued implementation of the program in the 10th Five-year Plan. As one of the national S&T program trilogy in the 10th Five-year Plan, 863 Program continues to play its important role.

It is an institution directly under the jurisdiction of the State Council to administrate the National Natural Sciences Fund.

The purpose of this scheme is to contribute at the highest level of scientific research and education at the University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the City University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, by awarding Visiting Fellowships each year to the UK or US based scientists to collaborate with a Hong Kong based academic, or for Hong Kong based scientists to collaborate with an academic based in either the UK or US.  

The Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Program (ASTIP) officially started in 2013 and is directly supported by the Chinese central government. At the center of ASTIP is a new funding paradigm dedicated to supporting four specific objectives over the next thirteen years.
