Industry Event (WP4)

The LinkTADs WP4 Industry Meeting organized by HVRI was held in Chengdu, Southeast China on 16 September, 2015. In total, 147 delegates from the Chinese pig industry participated in the meeting. The meeting was aimed at: 1) sharing the advanced experiences and achievements of the project partners on the prevention and control of major animal diseases; and 2) discussing with industrial stakeholders and identifying opportunities and gaps for the future collaborations.

Five speakers gave the following presentations on LinkTADs’ work:

  • The importance of applying epidemiology when deciding the prevention and control strategies for major animal diseases;
  • Advanced vaccine research and development for classical swine fever (CSF), and the current situations and control strategies of CSF in China;
  • The control of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) in China, which is partially under a joint research project among the Shanghai Veterinary Research Institute(SHVRI), Statens veterinärmedicinska anstalt (SVA) and Centre de coopération international en recherché agronomique pour le développement CIRAD on JE eco-epidemiology in pigs.
  • The various aspects of morphologic diagnosis to improve participants’ abilities to describe gross specimens, enrich participants’ vocabulary commonly used in gross pathology, and enhance participants’ ability to come up with a morphologic diagnosis; and
  • Epidemiology, diagnosis, and prevention and control strategies of African swine fever (ASF).
